Dr. Sheakley received her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Kent State University in 2005, and is currently an Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) in Kalamazoo, MI. She is a founding faculty member at WMed, where she helped to develop the TBL curriculum, and currently teaches Cellular, Musculoskeletal, Cardiovascular, Renal, and GI Physiology. She has been using TBL in medical education since 2006, and has published nearly a dozen TBL case modules in MedEDPORTAL over the past ten years. Dr. Sheakley has conducted numerous educational workshops, many of which focused on TBL and flipped classroom activities.
