Julie M. Estis, Ph.D., CCC-SLP is Director of the TeamUSA Quality Enhancement Plan—a campus-wide initiative focused on using Team-Based Learning (TBL) at the University of South Alabama (USA) to improve student learning, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. Appointed to the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology faculty in 2004, she brings valuable expertise as a teacher, researcher, and faculty leader. As a teacher, her use of TBL has been very successful. In 2015, she received the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Profession’s Excellence in Teaching Award. As QEP Director, she provides innovative faculty development, useful resources and tools, and individual coaching to assure high-quality implementation of TBL. Her professional development extends beyond USA providing opportunities for faculty from other universities to receive training in TBL through conference presentations, consultations, and immersive experiences. She serves on the Team-Based Learning Collaborative Steering Committee and Program Committee.
