Michael is currently the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Drake University. He has a background in both pharmacy practice (BS in Pharmacy from the University of Washington) and pharmaceutical sciences (PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Minnesota). He has been a faculty member in pharmacy education since 1999.
In July of 2008 Michael became one of the founding members of a new school of pharmacy at Regis University. During the founding process, the faculty team chose to design and implement an integrated curriculum delivered by team-based learning (TBL). Since that time, he has used TBL extensively in the classroom and has served as a TBL mentor to other faculty. In addition, he has consulted with other pharmacy programs to aid in conversion of lecture-based pharmacy coursework into TBL pharmacy coursework. Michael currently serves the TBL community as the President on the Team-Based Learning Collaborative (TBLC) board.
