The 2022 Annual TBLC Meeting is taking place from March 5 through March 8, 2022. New this year is two days of pre-conference workshops to allow for all five of the Fundamental Certificate courses! These earlier days, Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6, will give attendees the opportunity to take all required courses for their introductory TBL Fundamentals certification. Improving Facilitation Skills for a TBL Classroom
Presenters: Suzan ElSayed – Oakland University
Will Ofstad – West Coast University
Effective facilitation is an integral component of the successful delivery of a TBL module. Facilitation is a complex activity that requires the instructor to implement strategies that engage the audience and promote intrinsic motivation to participate. The purpose of this workshop is to share a diverse range of facilitation strategies that instructors can adapt and use to enhance their facilitation skills.
Peer Evaluation and Team Development
Presenters: Michelle Farland – University of Florida
Sarah Lerchenfeldt – Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine
Peer evaluation and team development increase individual accountability and improve team cohesion to create an optimal learning environment for TBL modules. The purpose of this workshop is to learn the key components of peer evaluation and team development and use best practices to implement a system that fits the needs of the learning environment unique to the educational setting in which TBL is offered. As the final workshop in this series, take the opportunity to develop partnerships among TBLC members for future engagement with this community-driven collaborative.
