#TBLC22 Welcomes Plenary Speaker Dr. Michael Sweet

The 21st Annual TBLC Conference is just around the corner, and we would like you to get to know our keynote sessions! We have two presentations this year and we hope you enjoy each. The second will be given by Dr. Michael Sweet, Director of Design and Integration in the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning through Research (CATLR) at Northeastern University.

Plenary: Inside out / Outside in:  Fulfilling the Promise of Community in the TBL Classroom
Date and Time:
 March 7, 2022 at 10:45 AM Eastern
*This session will also be streamed live for virtual attendees.

The premise of Team-Based Learning is that we can do more when we come together. But “coming together” is not one-size-fits-all—there are at least as many experiences of it in your classroom as students in your class. In our time together, we will consider this reality first “from the inside out”: How have our individual backgrounds positioned us to experience ourselves and our learners in specific ways? Michael will offer some ideas, but we’ll also co-create practical takeaways by engaging everyone in the room.

Michael Sweet is Director of Design and Integration in the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning through Research (CATLR) at Northeastern University in Boston.  He has also led teaching centers and initiatives at the University of Texas Austin, the University of Oregon and Portland Community College. He presents nationally and internationally on critical thinking and team-based learning, served as the 2009-2010 President of the Team-Based Learning Collaborative and 2014-2016 Executive Editor of Publications. The online resources he developed to support critical thinking instruction and Team-Based Learning have achieved international adoption.

We hope you enjoy what we are sure will be a very engaging plenary discussion.
