For the past three decades, medicine, nursing, and pharmacy programs, along with business, psychology, and education have shifted from lecture format to more active learning strategies. In a number of studies, team based learning (TBL) has demonstrated its effectiveness in student engagement, team cohesion, and small group student learning.
However, as more programs begin to use the online platform to teach important concepts, faculty are becoming more interested in learning how to integrate TBL into the online learning environment. For the success of online TBL, the instructor needs to follow the TBL principles.
A number of TBL practitioners have been developing methods for implementing TBL approaches for online delivery. Methods, advice, and support are available to TBLC members. A TBLC Member has made their module on implementing TBL in an online environment available to current TBLC members. You may access this module from the Resource Bank page found here.
