Michelle Z. Farland, PharmD, BCPS, CDCES is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. She started using Team-Based Learning (TBL) in 2008 and has experience implementing it in large and small classes (30-280 students), for in-person, synchronous video conferencing and online classrooms.

Dr. Farland provides faculty development for a variety of colleges and schools of pharmacy. At her home institution, she is a resource for faculty interested in implementing and refining TBL in the classroom. In addition to co-developing an annual 2-day TBL workshop at the University of Florida, she has facilitated numerous workshops at national conferences focused on the topic.

In 2012, she was honored with the American College of Clinical Pharmacy New Educator Award, and she received the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Emerging Teaching Scholar Award in 2017. Dr. Farland has published multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts related to TBL, including “Best practices for implementing team-based learning in pharmacy education,” which was published by the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education in 2013.

Dr. Farland is an active member of the Team-Based Learning Collaborative and currently serves as President of the collaborative (2019-2021), with past service on the scholarship (2103-2017) and finance committees (2016-2019).
