I am an assistant professor in the undergraduate nursing program at South Dakota State University. I graduated from South Dakota State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Nursing. I received my Master’s of Science in Nursing Education from South Dakota State University in 2007 and my PhD from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2010. I have been in nursing education full-time for 7 years and currently serve as the undergraduate curriculum committee chair.

I implemented team-based learning in my practice as a nurse educator in 2010 and have been using team-based learning in a variety of courses, including community health nursing and nursing research. I have also provided mentoring to several of my colleagues who were interested in implementing team-based learning in their classrooms. I have performed several research studies involving team-based learning and have several published manuscripts. I also developed the “Team-Based Learning Student Assessment Instrument” which has resulted in an interprofessional network of national and international contacts who have requested permission to use my instrument in research studies. I have been a member of the TBLC since 2009 and a member of the Team-Based Learning Collaborative Scholarship Committee since 2013
