Dr. McKee is Professor and Chair of Foundational Sciences at the newly formed College of Medicine at Central Michigan University. Prior to this appointment, he directed and taught courses in medical biochemistry and molecular biology as well as medical genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine – South Bend. He used Team Based Learning extensively in these courses for the past 6 years and is working now to incorporate TBL into an innovative and integrated curriculum at CMU. Dr. McKee is active in the Team-Based Learning community and has given workshops on Team-Based learning at National and International meetings as well as at Universities and Medical Schools. He is presently treasurer and a member of the Executive committee of the Team Based Learning Collaborative as well as past Vice-President and a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Biochemistry Course Directors (ABCD), a group dedicated to supporting and enhancing the teaching of Biochemistry in medical, dental, and pharmacy schools. Dr. McKee is also active in research and has a current funded project from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute of the NIH to study the mitochondrial toxicity of anti-viral nucleoside analogs used in the treatment of AIDS. Dr. McKee is a member of the Scientific and Medical Advisory Board of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation and a member of the AAMC Council of Faculty and Academic Societies (CFAS).
